As a Fort Worth based company,  we are right in the middle of an area with multiple colleges and universities. Every fall, sororities and fraternities from these local universities begin recruiting their new members.

Recruitment for sororities is a huge deal. For nearly a week, hundreds of girls go from sorority house to sorority house meeting girls, learning about the various philanthropic efforts of each sorority, and eventually deciding which one is the best fit for them. Once the week is over, the new sorority members are super excited to wear their new Greek letters!

Sometimes finding congratulatory gifts for sorority girls is hard because not every company is licensed to sell these products. Fortunately, we are! Just in time for fall recruitment, we’ve added plenty of new products to our online sorority shop. It’s now easier than ever to purchase Greek apparel and gifts for the sorority girl in your life.

Check out some of our sorority gifts below!

Last week, we posted about what’s trending in the world of printed tees. Because we are a screen printing company, its no surprise we see design trends come and go each year. This season, we’re seeing more variety in shirt styles than ever before.

This summer T-shirts are versatile and trendy. More and more of our clients have started to veer away from plain T-shirts and have begun to gravitate toward new fabrics, colors, and cuts. So today we’re sharing some of the most popular shirt styles of the season.

One thing’s for sure. Throwback styles are everywhere. We’re seeing 50’s oversized shirts tucked in, 70’s color pops and 90’s relaxed fits and grunge themes. Crop tops, loose fitting tees and slouchy styles are all the rage. Shirts which can easily transition from day to night and accessorized for any occasion. For example, a slouchy tank goes perfect with shorts during the day, and all you have to do before dinner is knot the tank and swap your shorts out for a maxi skirt!

Foil printed tees are another trend to look out for this summer. This style is popping up here and there, and we’re thinking the look will catch on quickly. The shiny bright colors add flash to cheeky phrases and brand names.

For those of you who enjoy throwback styles, you’ll love this next one. Ringer tees are back in a big way, and they still look as cool as they did when your camp counselor wore them.

For men, a classic tee with a washed vintage look is a great casual look for daytime.

We want to hear from you! If you have a style trend to report or just want to share some looks you love, leave a comment below!

If you’re like us, you love giving gifts at the holidays. You like to make the people in your life feel special and you like to see them smile. What you probably don’t like so much, however, is selecting the right gift for each person! When you’ve got a long list of people you appreciate, it can be challenging to find the right gifts for everyone. You want your gifts to be meaningful and enjoyable. After all, nobody wants to give another basket of coffee and pecans. But with so many people on your list, how can you make sure each gift feels personal and special?

We’ve got you covered. In our experience, the best way to add that personal touch is to literally get personal. Personalization can take a gift from simple to elegant in one smooth step. It can turn a basic item into something completely unique. This year, we’re giving you a step-by-step guide to gift giving that will ensure everyone on your list gets a little something special!

Step 1: MAKE A LIST OF THE PEOPLE IN YOUR WORLD

When it comes to shopping, one should never begin without a list. Shopping without a list is the reason you walk into Target for a bar of soap and leave with a full cart and $300 less than you walked in with. So, for your wallet’s sake, take a few minutes to sit down and write out a list of everyone you want to give gifts to this year. Break them down into categories like family, friends, teachers, coworkers, business relationships, employees, etc.

Step 2: WHAT’S GOING ON IN THEIR WORLD?

After you’ve got a list of everyone you want to buy for, take a minute to sit down and think about each individual on your list and what’s going on in their lives this year. Did they have a new baby? Did they get married or move into a new house?Did they start a new job or retire from an old one? Did they graduate college? Did they send a child to college? Do they have any major events or changes coming up in their lives? Make a second column next to their names and write down something personal about each person in this column.

Step 3: WHAT DO THEY NEED IN THEIR WORLD?

Now that you’ve got a list and a little something personal about each person written down, think about gifts for life events. For example, newlyweds might enjoy a gift featuring their new family name, like a decorative pillow or a photo frame. A student might enjoy a cozy blanket or a lap desk to use while they study. Someone who recently started a new job might enjoy a padfolio or a name plate for their desk. Maybe grandma could use a new scarf. Once you’ve got a few gift ideas, add a third column and put down the gifts that would work for each person.

Now, you might know five people who moved into a new house or went off to college this year, and you want to get them all cozy new blankets. Remember, it’s totally okay to give the same item to multiple people, because we’re going to add a personal touch in the next step!

Step 4: PERSONALIZE

Now you’ve got a list of people to buy for and a list of which gifts to give, all you have to do is personalize! When you take the time to add a personal touch to gifts, people feel special! It’s a very easy way to show the people in your life how special they are to you. So, here are a few suggestions for gift personalization.

  • If you’re giving pillows or towels, have the family name or monogram embroidered onto these items. These make wonderful elegant gifts for the home, not to mention useful!
  • For grandma, add her monogram to a soft, cozy robe or a new scarf. She’ll stay warm and look pretty all winter long.
  • For the college student, add their team to a blanket, jacket or any other apparel item you choose! You can never go wrong with team spirit.
  • For that friend who started a new job, try monogramming a laptop bag or customizing a business card holder!

If you follow this step-by-step guide to gift giving, we promise your presents will not disappoint! We love creating personalized products for our clients, friends and family. If you’re in the screen printing industry, you know it takes a village to create a gorgeous print. From the graphic designer to the screen printers, everyone plays a part in turning a great idea into a beautiful garment. We decided to see how our work compares to others in our industry, so we entered the 2015 Impressions Awards.

The Impressions Awards are our industry’s most prestigious apparel decorating competition. For months, decorators of all levels submit their entries to be judged by a panel. Winners were recently announced at ISS Fort Worth, and we’re proud to say that Cornerstone Impressions was the recipient of this year’s People’s Choice Award. This award goes to the design which was voted best by ISS show attendees.

The ‘Miss Texas Prison Rodeo’ shirt was designed by Pecos McCool for Lazy J Ranch Wear.

This shirt, along with the rest of the Impressions Award winners, will be displayed at every ISS show next year and featured in the January issue of Impressions Magazine.

This year’s People’s Choice Award is the second Impressions Award for Pecos McCool and Cornerstone Impressions. We know we’re lucky to have such amazing artists and screen printers on our team. Without the great work they do and the clients they do it for, we’d be lost! Congratulations, Pecos! We love the work you do every day, and we are thrilled the rest of the world can enjoy it as well!

Producing high-quality screen prints requires a thorough understanding of the screen printing process and a great deal of practice. Many people don’t realize the screen printing process is lengthy and requires much attention to detail. Aaron Allen, a long-time member of our team, created this step by step video of our process. We’ll elaborate on each step below.

This video shows the screen printing process AFTER artwork is already created, separated into individual colors (each color = 1 screen), and printed onto clear films.

Step 1: Lining up and taping your image to be exposed in a light source.

In order to transfer an image from a clear film to a screen for printing, we first place the film on a UV light source and secure it with clear tape. Then we coat our screen with a light activated chemical called emulsion and place the screen on top of our film.

Step 2: Exposing the SCREEN TO THE light in order to burn the image into it

When emulsion is hit with UV light, it cures, or hardens, on the screen. The printed areas of your film will block out light. The emulsion will cure on the blank areas of the film only. This process, commonly referred to as ‘burning,’ essentially turns your screen into a stencil. Later, when your screen is on the printing press, ink will only be able to travel through the areas of the screen where there is no emulsion.

Step 3: Soak the screen

After your image is burned in the screen, take the screen to the wash tank and thoroughly soak each side of the screen. Let it sit for a few minutes to allow the water time to react with the uncured emulsion.

Step 4: Spray out screen

Still at the wash tank, use a hose to spray off excess emulsion from your print area. You should spray the screen until you can clearly see through the design.

Step 5: Taping the screen up so ink doesn’t get through

Once you’ve let your screen dry and you’re ready to go to press, tape all around the edges of the screen’s borders. This will ensure no ink leaks onto your garment.

Step 6: Lining the screen up and adding ink

Now you’re moving the screen to your printing press and lining it up for print. For multi-colored designs, you will have multiple screens so it’s important to pay attention to detail and align the screens correctly. Otherwise, you could end up with one part of a print at the top of a shirt and the other part at the bottom.

Once your screens are lined up on your press, add ink. Only add one ink color per screen.

Step 7: Loading and pulling the shirts while running them through the dryer

As the press starts, load shirts onto blank pallets. Once a shirt has gone through it’s printing cycle, remove and place it onto the drying belt. It’s important to make sure the temperature of your dryer is high enough to properly cure the ink. If the temperature is not high enough, the image will crack and wash out. Once again, attention to detail is required. To ensure a high-quality print, check the dryer temperature with a laser thermometer.

Step 8: Remove squeegee and flood bar. Unhook air lock.

When all of your shirts are printed, it’s time to clean up. We first remove the squeegee and flood bar. The squeegee in screen printing is similar to the squeegee you use to clean your car windows, except this one was used to force ink through the mesh screen onto your garment. The flood bar is used to contain the ink. It helps keep ink under the squeegee and away from the edges of the frame.

Step 9: Remove and clean screen out. Return ink to its proper container

Once you’ve removed the screen from the press, clear the screen of ink and tape. If there’s excess ink, put it back in the ink container, it’s okay to reuse!

Step 10: Fold shirts

Finally, fold the shirts and box them up for customers to enjoy!

While this is a very simplified version of our process, we hope it was helpful to see how a T-shirt is made at Cornerstone Impressions!

Did you know the art of embroidery has been around for centuries? We like to think that’s because of it’s simple elegance. With embroidery, the smallest things can make a big impact. For example, what separates a basic collared shirt and a Ralph Lauren Polo? A little embroidered horse.

A few stitches are all it takes for the world to see and recognize a logo. So, when you’re looking for a way to show your brand to the world, why not choose what works? Custom embroidery is classic, elegant and makes a statement. All you have to do is select the items that work for you, and don’t worry, you have plenty of options.

Check out some of the ways you can utilize custom embroidery services:

Gifts

One of the easiest ways to turn a simple gift into a thoughtful gift is through embroidery. Personalize a simple scarf by adding your friend’s name or monogram.

Groups and OrganizationsCornerstoneImpressionsGreekJackets

Stitching your organization’s logo or name onto everyday apparel items such as jackets, hats and laptop bags is a classic way to showcase your organization on the go.

Businesses and Teams

Businesses, sports teams, and schools often wear polo style shirts with their logos embroidered. This is a perfect casual look that’s comfortable all day.

Personal Items and Decorations

Embroidery isn’t only for apparel, it can also be used to decorate. Show off your favorite quotes and designs in your home or at the office. For wall art, frame a piece of pretty fabric embroidered with your favorite quote, and hang it up. Pillow cases with embroidered designs make great accent pieces in the home. You could even give your favorite tote bag a personal touch by embroidering it with a cool design.

Hats

Hats are probably the most requested item in our embroidery department. Hats come in all different styles and colors and they’re perfect for representing your brands, organizations, teams, businesses, and anything else you can think of!

Now that you’ve seen some ways you can benefit from custom embroidery services, consider your own groups, organizations, businesses and friends! Which of the items above would you most like to see your brand featured on? The sky is the limit, so start brainstorming, and as always, if you have any questions about custom embroidery, we are happy to answer them. Simply, leave a comment below, shoot us an email or give us a call!
